Dr. Shürho terms NDPP allegation baseless

NPF president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu has termed the NDPP’s allegation of his ill-treatment at the hands of his party men as “baseless”.

Addressing NPF Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting at the party’s central office here on Tuesday, Liezietsu remarked that NDPP-BJP combine was only “manufacturing wild rumours” by forgetting their obligations, commitments and responsibilities made to the people, thereby exposing their true colour and indicated that they were not comfortable.

Being a strong opposition in Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), he said NPF had nothing to worry about and nor was it in a hurry to overthrow the government, though he urged party men to remain alert to rumours being spread by their political adversaries.

He reminded party’s legislators of the early days when NPF was suppressed by those in power in New Delhi for self-interest by branding it as “legal wing of illegal organisation’

The NPF president expressed joy that things had taken shape in right perspective in due course of time giving the party a strong foundation and acknowledged the performances of party MLAs during the last Assembly session.

He said the performance was an indication of moving together as a family, appreciating and supporting one another, adding the bureaucrats were also impressed by the role played by “our legislators” for bringing back the real spirit of democracy.

Recalling the time when he was chairman of DAN Co-ordination Committee for 15 years, Liezietsu claimed he had given due recognition to all, even to those political parties who were not represented in the Assembly, adding equal treatment was given to other political parties who had worked with him.

He said though BJP walked away from the DAN “in search of greener pasture”, NPF remained sincere to its commitment with all its partners – BJP, JD (U) and NCP.

Clarifying that NPF had no regret nor any ill-feeling against anyone, Liezietsu said similar relationship would be maintained with all political parties without compromising on the party’s stand to serve real interest of the people.

Mentioning that NPF was anticipating taking over the reins of government sooner than later, he said the party was going ahead in reorganising and making necessary adjustments in its overall functioning at all levels.
