EROs visit polling stations in Kiphire and Wokha

Electoral Roll Observer (ERO), Alen Gonmei visited polling stations in Kiphire during the 2nd special camp on Saturday. During his visit to the polling stations, he interacted with the BLOs, ward chairmen, administrative officers and election officials. He encouraged the BLOs to work sincerely to achieve an error-free electoral roll in their polling stations.

Meanwhile, In view of the ensuing special summary revision, a special camp for PwDs will be held on October 17 at the deputy commissioner & additional deputy commissioner offices (VREC) across Kiphire district. Assistant election officer Kiphire has requested all eligible un-enrolled PwDs to visit the designated office during office hours to have themselves enrolled, on the above mentioned date. ERO meets election and party officials in Wokha

Electoral Roll Observer (ERO) for Wokha district, secretary, Rovilatuo Mor, held a meeting with District Election Machinery and political parties of Wokha district on October 12 at the office chamber of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Wokha.

A press release by Assistant Election Officer (AEO) Wokha stated that in his address, Mor said the visit was a part of the Special Summary Revision, 2019 and added that the meeting was to garner public, political parties and NGO support and cooperation to achieve a clean electoral roll.

He asked the election machinery in the district to sincerely carry out their duties as per the commission’s instructions and also reminded the political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) if it has not been done.

Lamenting that existence of dead electors in the electoral roll, he said it was a serious issue and a mockery of the system and democracy. Mor urged all political parties to come to a consensus to remove all dead and bogus electors from the electoral roll. 

Earlier, DC & District Election Officer, Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, welcomed the observer and all the participants to the meeting.

While sharing their views and giving feedback, the political parties raised various queries which were cleared in the meeting.

After the meeting, the observer along with AEROs for 37 & 38 A/C and Assistant Election Officer (AEO) visited three polling stations from 38 A/C Wokha and two polling stations from 37 A/C Tyui.
