Western Sumi Kukami Hoho informs

October 17, 2018 | by admin

Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH), while congratulating the formation of Dimapur District Village Council Chairman Association (DDVCCA) and its newly elected team of leaders, has reminded all the Sumi intellectuals that the villages which are traditionally setup under Sumi customs and traditions should desist from affiliating with DDVCCA since Sumi tribes have a unique institution of GBship and the laws governing the Sumi villages emanates from age old customs and traditions, beside the Village Council Act, 1978.

However, WSKH has endorsed the affiliation of Sumi villages under the Urban areas where its GBs are elected.

In this regard, WSKH president Vihuto Yeptho and general secretary Kuhovi V. Zhimomi has requested the Sumi Villages to uphold and protect the sanctity of Sumi customary laws and make an endeavor to pave a harmonious way to let the customs prevail in times of variation or conflict between customary laws and other statutes.
