
Central Training Institute (CII), Nagaland Home Guards & Civil Defence (NHG&CD) has successfully conducted the Apda Mitra flood disaster response training for the 3rd batch from October 3 to November 3.
A press release from CTI, Toluvi, Dimapur, stated that the Apda Mitra flood disaster response training is a centrally sponsored program initiated by the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) in collaboration with DDMA Dimapur. Resource persons for the training included trained officers from the department of NHG&CD, National Disaster Response Force and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority.
The training has been conducted for 200 community volunteers from different colonies and wards in Dimapur in three successive batches. Training for the first batch was conducted from December 11 to 22 and for the second batch from October 4 to 15.
The 12-day training for each batch covered topics covering basic knowledge of flood rescue and relief, first aid, emergency rescue methods of flood victims, acquaintance with different boats and their operation, and construction and use of improvised rafts.
The training also included practical outdoor exercises with the use of inflatable boats and OBM.
On the last day of the training, the trained community volunteers were given certificates and emergency responders (utility) bags containing basic rescue equipment.
