As part of the PDA coalition government’s decision to take governance and administration to all corners of the state, a historic first cabinet meeting was held in Kiphire outside the state capital Kohima, with union minister of state for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju as special invitee.
The meeting chaired by Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, deliberated on various issues besides adopting its ‘Kiphire Declaration’.
Kiren Rijiju later took to Twitter to announce that many significant decisions were taken at the cabinet meeting for the Kiphire district and the entire State.
The MoS, who is also in charge of “Kiphire Aspiration district”, highlighted the issues that needed urgent attention.
Chief minister Neiphiu Rio, who also took to Twitter, said the State Cabinet meeting was held with the Union minister as a special invitee.
“Nagaland government’s policy is to pursue a vision of inclusiveness & take administration & government machinery to all corners of the state for all round development,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, in an equally significant development, the special cabinet adopted a “Kiphire Declaration” covering the aspects of good governance & infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture & piggery, connectivity, youth and district corpus fund.

Earlier at the meeting, Kiphire deputy commissioner Mohammed Ali Shihab made a power-point presentation highlighting the development activities that were needed for the district.
The Central government had selected Kiphire district as one of the aspirational districts in the country to bring in prosperity and make it an economically-sound district in the State and in the country.
It may be mentioned that People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) coalition partners had decided to hold a full-fledged Cabinet meeting in Kiphire district as part of its endeavour to take governance and administration to all corners in a manner that was inclusive where all citizens and stakeholders participated in the development aspirations of the people.
