Akho and Tapan win Naga King Chilli eating competition

 Akho from Phek district emerged winner of the Naga King Chilli eating competition after consuming five chillies in 20 seconds. The event is part of the ongoing Hornbill festival’s 7th day in Kisama, Friday afternoon.

The Naga King Chilli Eating Competition was organized by XL Nagaland and sponsored by the department of Horticulture.

A total of 12 participants, including four from the “Tourist Category”, took part in the competition.

Tapan from Guwahati, who ate six chillies in the competition, was declared winner of the Tourist Category.

For the Local Category, the second prize was bagged Seintong from Peren, who ate four and a half chillies.

Aku Khamo of Kohima and Seiminlal from Peren ate four each to take the third and fourth places. Keneiselhou Viyie took the fifth position after consuming three chillies.

The winners from the local category received Rs 20,000 for 1st place, Rs 15,000 for second, Rs 10,000 for third, Rs 5000 each for fourth and fifth places respectively.

Mhabemo Yanthan, secretary, Tourism gave away the awards to the winners.
