The State Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for conduct of general election to the Lok Sabha, 2019 has been constituted.
According to DIPR, the committee will be headed by chief electoral officer, Nagaland, Abhjit Sinha as chairman, director information and public relations, Limawati Ao, joint chief electoral officer, Khegukha Sema, deputy director News AIR, Kohima, Shahu Patole, one observer appointed by the ECI and senior journalist and correspondent as members.
The State Level MCMC shall perform two sets of functions: deciding appeal from both District and Addl.CEO Committees on Certification of advertisement as per the Commission order and examining all cases of paid news on appeal against the decision of District MCMC or cases that may take up suo motu, in which case it shall direct the concerned ROs to issue notices to the candidates.
