JPN questions appointment of lower grade at VS&AH college

Jalukie Pumling Nko (JPN) has termed as “very unfortunate” the appointment of the lower grade staff at College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (VS&AH), Jalukie from outside the state.
In a press release, JPN chairman Kumui Nring said there were many eligible local candidates who could have been appointed to the same posts.
JPN chairman pointed out that there were still two MTS and other staff who were appointed from outside. He added that despite Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal vice-chancellor’s assurance that those appointed would be repatriated to their original college of appointment, they have not been repatriated till date.
JPN, the apex customary body of Old Jalukie village on whose land the college has been established, expressed the view that the practice of appointing lower grade staff from outside the state and “dumping” them in the college as “purely vested interest”. JPN further said that such practice was devoid of any rationale and with intent to deprive the eligible local candidates of the state from availing the chance of appointment in the institution.
JPN has, therefore, urged the responsible authorities to repatriate the two MTS and withdraw the appointment of the two drivers with immediate effect.
The chairman said JPN and other local civil society groups would never allow the joining of the new staff appointed under such circumstances.
He warned that in the case of inaction by the authority, the JPN would resort to any necessary action deemed fit in the interest of area people.
Meanwhile, JPN has also disapproved rampant logging operations and coal extraction that have been going on in its jurisdiction. JPN has announced that it would disallow logging operations in any form, including bally posts, round logs, sawn timber and coal extraction with effect from April 1, 2019
JPN has, therefore, urged the persons involved in such activities to co-operate and desist from carrying out logging operations within the jurisdiction of Jalukie. JPN said it would monitor the situation and any persons found willingly defaulting would be dealt with as per the customary practices.
