
Celebrating International Women’s Day, Fusion Store, Dimapur, launched ‘Zest’, D’ana’s new minimal jewellery line and also announced its collaboration with Chizami Weaves and Penthrill at its store, hotel Acacia complex, Dimapur, Friday.
Briefing about ‘Zest’ a sub brand of D’ana jewels, Elika Awomi, the women behind the brand, mentioned that she has been pursuing her jewellery making certificate from Singem, which is a school of design in Kolkata.
She said that she will be certified jeweller once she completes her course. Awomi said every piece of jewellery in this line of jewellery goes through a long process of cutting, filing, shaping, soldering and much more and is made with metals like brass, copper and few semi precious stones which is a “tedious process”.
She expressed her happiness saying that D’ana have been there since 2013, and that she thought it was time to upgrade and come up with something new and that was how the idea of Zest came about, she said.
D’ana jewels will be available in minimal pieces in variety of collections and that she will be coming up new collections every two to three months since it manufacturing process is time consuming, she added.
Awomi also said that whole idea of the name “Zest” came up when she knew that when she had to go through the hard work as Zest basically means hard work, enthusiasm & passion. Zest will be made available at Fusion store Dimapur and on D’Ana social media pages for interested clients.
Fusion store owner Temsusenla Kichu expressed her happiness on the launching and collaboration with the three brands on the auspicious International Women’s Day. She said the main idea behind the programme was to encourage and empower women working behind the brands.
Talking about Chizami Weaves (CW), she said it was an initiative of North East Network (NEN), a women organization. CW develops textiles using loin loom, one the oldest methods adopted by humans which is still used by the Nagas and other tribes of North East India.
Their products are purely hand woven by rural Naga women, mostly Chakhesang Nagas. The weavers have kept the traditional knowledge and skills alive while sustaining their families and communities at the same time. The motifs are inspired by nature and the local culture.
About PenThrill, Kichu said that the store has collaborated with Fusion Store. Penthrill is the “ink to your story” and takes pride in associating itself with authors and has distinguished itself as a home for poets and writers by turning their dreams into reality.
Further, she maintained that altogether Fusion Store comprises of 27 brands, out of which 21 brands are delivered by the women entrepreneurs and six by men which exemplifies equality, she added.
