Training on mushroom spawn production technology

ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre organized a “Mushroom spawn production technology” three-day training & demonstration under All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on mushroom, from March 5 to 7 at ICAR Campus, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema.

A press release from ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, stated that joint director Dr. DJ Rajkhowa, encouraged the participants to grow mushroom spawns to meet requirements of hill districts of Nagaland. Locally growing these will reduce transportation costs and make them available at the door steps of cultivating farmers, he added. 
Dr. Rajkhowa also emphasized on development of spawn production, keeping in view that there is a lot of demand for spawns. 
He also dwelt on formation of FPOs on mushroom production to bridge the scarcity of spawn availability and increase the availability of mushrooms in Nagaland.
The training was coordinated by Dr. Rajesha G, scientist (plant pathology) and was mainly focused on increasing the availability of spawns in Nagaland. During the training, Dr. Christy B. K. Sangma, scientist (soil microbiology), Dr. Rajesha G., scientist (plant pathology), Raghuveer Singh, scientist (plant pathology), Dr. Ph Romen Sharma, scientist (agril. extension) and E. Lireni Kikon SMS (plant protection) were the resource experts. 
Altogether 18 participants from the State and Central governments, organizations and entrepreneurs, attended the training.
