BCTE celebrates Foundation & Cultural Day

The Bosco College of Teacher Education (BCTE) Dimapur celebrated its 17th Foundation & Cultural Day on March 22, at the college auditorium, organized by 2nd semester teacher trainees.

A press release from Bosco BEd College Dimapur’s, Aiborlang Nongsiej, stated that the event is organized every year to mark the beginning of the college. College principal, Fr. T.C Joseph reported that the college had trained more than 1500 teachers. The program highlights included presentations of cultural items, especially of the Naga tribes and a few from other states of India.

Speaking at the program as chief guest, DEO Dimapur, R Amongla Jamir, in her speech appreciated the missionaries running educational institutions efficiently and in an organized manner.

She encouraged everyone to value their own culture by preserving them and learning to respect each other’s cultures. She also stated that “A real teacher is the one who respects and helps others to value customs and traditions of each other”.

Fr. CD Mathai, speaking at the program as guest of honour, said “No one culture can solve the human problem,” therefore, education must include training in understanding the richness of cultures. He added that the best means towards this end was to train teacher trainees to impart the value and importance of preserving culture.
