In line with the state government’s decision to make Nagaland a “plastic free” state, Special Branch Dimapur (SBD) organised a sensitisation programme-cum-cleanliness drive with an objective to create awareness of “plastic free zone” to the police personnel and their family members.
In a press release, deputy superintendent of police (SB), Atu Zumvü, stated that the programme which was organised as per the directive from the higher authority witnessed the participation of 70 SB personnel.
The release stated that a cleanliness drive was conducted at New Market Dimapur by assisting the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) scavengers where huge piles of plastic waster were gathered and disposed at DMC dumping ground.
The release also informed that awareness was created on utility of plastic and its responsibilities and hazards of plastic.
It said the personnel were also imparted knowledge on preventative measures and how to curb the menace of plastic water and added that the participants gained experience from the cleanliness drive.
