
Under its “Teach for Tobu Initiative”, Hope Academy Obay (HAO) building constructed by Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) was inaugurated on May 20, at Pessao (unrecognised village) bordering Myanmar in the presence of village council chairman Pessao, S. P. Chemang as special guest.
A press release from TASU president Sangti Konyak stated that, the overall functioning of HAO will be sponsored by TASU. It stated that “Teach for Tobu” is the initiative of TASU with an aim to reorganize and empower the community for developing strong sense of ownership in uplifting education sector at the grass root level.
With support from federating student units and VEC/TEC, TASU had proposed the education department for adoption of one school each from Pessao, Yongkhao, Tamkoang and Monyakshu villages after taking necessary approval from the VEC/TEC and the student unions.
Through “Teach for Tobu” initiative, the union in the last four months (February -May 2019) contributed 10 pair of desks and benches each at GPS C Monyakshu and Pessao, with support of Hindi teacher at GPS B Yongkhao and GPS Tamkoang, additional teacher at GPS B Monyakshu, GMS Monyakshu and GPS Pessao Changlu.
The programme was chaired by speaker TASU, welcome address and the note of appreciation by president Tobu Area Students’ Union and education secretary TASU respectively. The academic class will start from June 1.
