Universities must play pro active role: Acharya

Nagaland Governor, P.B. Acharya, who is also the Chief Rector of Nagaland University, stated that Nagaland can only be strengthened by the people of the state, and for which he called on the Universities to play a pro active role in bringing greater heights to Nagaland. 

According to Governor’s PRO, Acharya said this while addressing a gratitude programme held at Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema on Thursday. 

The governor also appreciated the dedication and passion of the teaching staff of NU and encouraged them to continue their duty towards building the nation. He also reminded them to review their approach towards imparting knowledge to the students. He reiterated the importance of skill courses and said that students when they come out of the university should be able to stand on their own and called for dialogue between trade, industry and educational institutions.

Reminding the students that government sector was stagnant, he encouraged the students to take up courses where they can stand on their own and become entrepreneurs. 

Vice chancellor NU, Prof Pradeshi Lal, in his address, thanked Acharya for his constant encouragement and effort for the progress of the university. Short speeches were also delivered by Pro Vice Chancellor, Kohima Campus and Prof Rosemary Dzuvichu. Vote of thanks was proposed by Registrar, NU.
