Tsuyi river conservation meeting held at Ghathashi

The second meeting of Tsuyi River conservation with Ghathashi, Mukalimi, Iphonumi and Hebolimi was held on July 20, at Ghathashi council hall. The meeting was organized by Ad hoc Town Council, Ghathashi under the supervision of 13-AC Pughoboto MLA, Y. Vikheho Swu. 

During the meeting, MLA Y. Vikheho Swu pointed out that river conservation was not a new thing since many villages have been carrying out the conservation. 

He mentioned that the conservations was carried out with a firm believe that it will help enhance the rural economy.

Swu said that “River fish can be true delicacy” and in fact all the river’s in Nagaland can be conserved which will not only help grow in economy but create a safe environment. 

In this regard, four villages Ghathashi, Mukalimi, Iphonumi and Hebolimi under Pughoboto sub-division have come together to conserve Tsuyi river. 

Tsuyi River under Pughoboto sub-division originates from Iphonumishothasu area and enters Doyang River at Awohumi and Kichilimi area in true sense the river belongs exclusively to the area comprising of Ighanumi, Hebolimi, Iphonumi, Mukalimi, Shesulimi, Chisholimi, Chishilimi, Awohumi and Kichilimi. 

Swu said for now an organised system of river conservation is being initiated within the river boundary of four villages Ghathashi, Mukalimi, Iphonumi and Hebolimi under the Name “Tsuyi Ghoki Pimhepivi Muqo” (Tsuyi River conservation) with an aim to return a watercourse to its pre-disturbed state and to increase the environmental value of river, for example improving the habitat to increase number of fish and other rare species.  He said that the conservation also aims to give organised regulated river fish and other insects. 

The income generated will form a common wealth of the four villages Ghathashi, Mukalimi, Iphonumi and Hebolimi whereby profits will be shared equally.
