Advisor, Fire & Emergency Services, SIRD and R&R, Pohwang Konyak on Tuesday inaugurated a Fire Station in Dimapur-West located near State Stadium.
With this, the state has now a total number of 15 Fire Stations.
As per the report of Ministry of Home Affairs, government of India, the state needed 48 Fire Stations. The MHA report was tabled after conducting a detail survey about the requirement of Fire Stations in Nagaland.
Taking this into account, the department of Fire and Emergency Services had initiated various visions and activities with the approval of the State government.
It may be noted that Nagaland Fire & Emergency Services was bifurcated from Nagaland Police on April 1, 1990 and formed as a separate directorate with eight Fire Stations due to its technical profession.
And from 2011 onwards, the state government has established seven more Fire Stations at Chumukedima, Kiphire, Peren, Kohima-North, Longleng, Tuli and Dimapur-West. Two more Fire Stations will be inaugurated shortly. But the state still will still face a shortage of 31 Fire Stations.
In this regard, the advisor said that the department will strive to achieve these requirements in the days to come. He also said that department was trying its best to serve the public despite of various constraints.
In conclusion, the advisor appealed to the public to cooperate with the fire fighters so that with their cooperation, the life and properties from fire disaster could be protected.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Neilasa Sopfii, IG (F&ES).
SDO Police Engineering Project, Er. Imsanenla Imchen highlighted the details of the project which was funded by NEC and executed by M/s. P. Suohu under the supervision of Police Engineering Project.
