
Around 100 students from different backgrounds turned up for the job fair held at directorate of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Kohima on Friday.
The event is organised by the department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
On August 3, skill fair will be conducted.
Interacting with Nagaland Post, director employment, skill development and entrepreneurship C. Lotam Chang said the recruiters were from Oberoi Hotel Mumbai, ITC Royal Bengal, Hyatt Regency Thissur.
Chang said the department has empanelled 15 training partners and has 21 training centres across India under PMKVY.
To queries on safety and security of the Naga employees, Chang informed that the department has tracking partner in Dimapur.
The department has so far recruited 1346, placed in different parts of the country, trained 3035 and currently 2431 are undergoing training in different field under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
In an interaction, the recruiters expressed joy in meeting the ambitious Naga youths and informed that those who were recruited earlier has set good example by being sincere, humble and hard working which brought them back to Nagaland to recruit more.
Hyatt Regency representative said there are 20 employees from Nagaland, recruited during the previous year and said they were performing well, growing with their ambition.
Also in an interaction, the applicants expressed joy of getting the opportunity to face interview stating that it gives them confidence.
A B.SC agri graduate, Mhalo Kithan said it was wrong to remain confined at home on the pretext of studying for exam and said for any job, the recruiters look for an experience and this could be a starter that would help her shape her future.
Theja and Tsolelo asserted that knowing the difficulty to get job in Nagaland, the duo expressed job that as teenager, they wished to work in any place if given opportunity.
Another applicant who do not wished to be named said instead of staying at home, disheartened for being unemployed, said it was an opportunity to explore what was in store for them and said she was fully prepared if recruited to work anywhere in the country.
Those who got through spot recruitment were handed the appointment orders on the spot.
