
A stretch of National Highway-29, which was closed following landslide near KMC old dumping site on August 4 morning, was opened for all types of vehicular traffic on August 13 evening.
It may be mentioned that the stretch was opened for single lane (light vehicles) on August 9 night. The road has been restored after fresh earth-cutting.
Earlier, vehicular movement was diverted towards Jotsoma by-pass, Peducha-Tsiesema and Niuland-Zhadima.
Meanwhile, tree plantation and clearance of debris within the jurisdiction of national highway was carried out in and around Kohima town under the initiative of chief engineer National Highway K. Thenuo and SDO National Highway Kohima, Akumdong on Wednesday. The chief engineer’s villagers Chiecha Badipfüko Krotho Kohima and Angami Baptist Thenupfüko Krotho planted trees including Bougainvillea on the road side besides beautifying the highway by cleaning weeds and clearing nullah.
