GHS Anatongre students protest non-availability of teachers

To protest against non-availability of science and mathematics teachers at Government High School (GHS) Anatongre, the students of Class 9 and 10 have stopped attending classes for the past few days.

In a joint representation addressed to the principal director, school education, the Anatongre Students’ Union (ASU) president Sutsuthong K, village council chairman Tsulimthong and village education committee chairman Musumong sought the intervention of the responsible authority and demanded immediate deployment of science and mathematics teachers.

The signatories stated that the despite of numerous demands since the start of academic session, the department was yet to deploy the required teachers.

They also said that despite encouraging the students to be patient and wait for the subject teachers to arrive, their patience of students and community has run out. Therefore, the ASU, VCC and VEC have urged the department to intervene and resolve the issue so the students return to attend their classes.
