Cabinet sub-committee visits disputed areas

Cabinet sub-committee, which was constituted by the cabinet to finalise the demarcation of Dimapur-Peren boundary, on Saturday visited the disputed areas and neighbouring villages led by its chairman S Pangnyu Phom, Minister for Health & Family Welfare (H&FW).

The committee has asserted that it was not formed particularly for pockets of disputed areas but for amicable demarcation of the entire Dimapur and Peren districts boundary.

During their visit, the committee members interacted with both the parties and asked them to submit all relevant documents to the committee through their respective deputy commissioners.

The committee stated it would examine for final solution that based on the documents and evidence submitted by the parties and after due consultation with all stakeholders.

Meanwhile, the committee chairman S Pangnyu Phom has requested both parties to maintain peace and to extend all possible help and co-operation to the committee while visiting and interacting with NGOs and public leaders from Lamhai Namdhi and adjoining villages.

Commissioner of Police, Dimapur and Superintendent of Police, Peren also briefed the committee on law and order situation and action taken to prevent any anti-social elements activities in the areas. 

The committee consists of five cabinet ministers (H&FW Minister S. Pangnyu Phom, Minister for Planning and Coordination Neiba Kronu, Minister for Transport Paiwang Konyak and Minister for Rural Development Metsubo Jamir.

Nagaland Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners of Dimapur and Peren, Director for Land Record and Revenue, IGP(IR), Commissioner of Police, Dimapur and Superintendent of Police, Peren and other government officials accompanied the cabinet sub-committee.
