Chakhesang Students’ Union Shillong (CSUS) celebrated its golden jubilee on September 14 at the Naga Community Hall, Nagaland House, Shillong, Meghalaya, under the theme, “Celebrating unity and progress”.
A press release from president, CSUS, Dekhozo Rhakho, stated that MLA Nagaland, Kuzholuzo Nienu, graced the occasion as chief guest, who also released the jubilee souvenir and delivered the jubilee address.
He encouraged the community to respect and use time wisely by setting priorities and never straying away from their main objectives. He also challenged the gathering to come out of “average mindset”, keep fit, exercise and to be positive and become employers and not just employees.
Special guest, Retd director general of Police, Nagaland, Besusayo Keso, stressed on the importance of integrity, honesty and principle.
Jubilee greeting were brought by ex-president, CSUS, Vevo Sapu, president, Chakhesang Students’ Union (apex body), Lavoto Chizo, president, Naga Students’ Union Shillong, T P Dining, central executive council member of Khasi Students’ Union, Reuben A Najiar.
Tiny tots of Shillong Chakhesang tribes also presented a choreography focusing on CSUS Platinum Jubilee 2044.
Jubilee blessing and prayer was pronounced by (Rtd), commissioner and secretary and chairman, state quality control board, Nagaland, Wepretso Mero, while Khrote-ii Lasushe, chaired the first session.
Chaplain, Chakhesang Christian Fellowship, Shillong, Dr. Keveseyi Vero, pronounced benediction, and special numbers were presented by CSUS Jubilee Choir, Angami Students’ Union Shillong and Uzholu Tetseo and friends.
