Two days after the portion of the NH-29 leading to the state capital remained blocked near Sechü-Zubza, after incessant rainfall triggered heavy mudslide, a one-way traffic was opened Saturday for both heavy and light vehicles. Kohima Traffic informed Nagaland Post that the road was opened for both heavy and light vehicles but that keeping it open permanently would largely depend upon whether the soil would remain stable due to weather condition.
SDO (C) Zubza informed all vehicles including those transporting essential commodities and oil tankers were allowed to pass and ensure that there will be no fears of shortages if the stretch remains open. He however said that there were still some over lying mudslide above the road that could be dangerous and so the road would remain closed from 10 p.m. till 5 a.m
Meanwhile, Sechü Zubza Youth Organisation provided free refreshments to those stranded. The fund was provided by the district administration and village council. They also assisted the traffic personnel for smooth flow of traffic and provided free porter service.
