Brilliante Music Festival underway in Kohima

 The inaugural function of Brilliante Music Festival was held on October 29 at RCEMPA, Jotsoma. The opening act was the 100 Pianos overture presented by more than 100 pianists who came together and  played Beethoven’s- Ode to Joy. The act was participated for the 102 pianists led by Khyo TCK, Aman Mahajan, Natalie Kapylova and Vimezo Iralu. Players from all levels starting from young learners (age 4) to teachers, band keyboardists, celebrated professionals, guest artists and competitors from the state and other parts of India and this performance was a combined community effort (institutions, organisations, churches etc) who came to celebrate together the gift of music.

The programme was graced by advisor to chief minister, Abu Metha who thanked the organisers for giving a platform to the musician in the state to explore and get better experience. He also praised the TAFMA for tireless effort to promote art and culture in Nagaland.  

International panist, Dr Surojeet Chatterji, alumnus of the Moscow Conservatory and Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, London and is currently working at the KM music Conservatory established by A R Rahman was also present at the Brilliante with three of his students who are well versed in piano and will be performing on the second day. He also mentioned that he was overwhelmed and surprised to see the whole scenario of the talented Nagas and shared his experience of coming to Nagaland, calling it as a beautiful pilgrimage.  He said he is very happy to see the government giving efforts to raise and lift music with high spirit. 

Candidates for the  Brilliante finals are, Junior category- Chandni kausikao Metshewe-u Lohe, Visevoü Üsou, Vichiirielie Sechii, Rokosituo Hozoye. Senior category Shantanu Bupendra Patel, Ayide Koza, Anuvrat Choudhary, Moawapang Lusang and  Neivino Rin. The judges were Natalia Kapylova, Aman Mahajan and  Sahu Peseyie. For the next two days, there will be master classes, workshops,  interaction , demo sessions, practicums,  concerts and competitions. The festival is also enlightened by the Nagaland coffee with their coffee and other accessories and snacks, pastry stalls. (Correspondent)
