Call for protection of Amur Falcon

Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, M Shayung Phom, in a notification, has informed that annual migration of Amur Falcons to Nagaland was expected to arrive soon within few days in the district. 

According to DIPR, the DC while pointing out that Amur Falcon has been protected under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, informed that trapping, killing and selling of Amur Falcon was a criminal offence and punishable with three years rigorous imprisonment or with a fine of Rs. 25,000 or both, under Section 51 of the said Act. 

Therefore, administrative officers, concerned departments, village councils, ward presidents and NGOs of Longleng have been directed to give wide publicity under their respective jurisdiction and give direction to the general public to comply with the restraining order for strict compliance. 

Appropriate action will be initiated to defaulters as per provision of the Act, DC informed.
