Child health-cum-medical camp held in Chedema

Chief medical officer (CMO) office Kohima, along with the district health society, department of Health & Family Welfare, NRHM, conducted a reproductive child health-cum-medical camp at Chedema Model village under Kohima on November 9. 

A press release from CMO office Kohima stated that, CMO Kohima, Dr. Laso Lazar, in his exhortation reminded the gathering of the responsibilities of each and everyone in bringing about health awareness to uplift the health of the society in general and for contribution of the individual in particular. He also stated that such camps was a platform for people to avail the services provided and also appreciated the participation of ICTC. Dr. Laso Lazar urged the gathering to avail all the services and also parttake in various group discussions for a healthy life style and to practice for better health seeking behavior. He also expected that, the villagers will derive maximum profit from the RCH camp. He also mentioned about the target group where children and pregnant mothers were given priority. He further expressed his sincere gratitude for huge turn-out of the target group. He also stressed on the community level where the VHC should take initiative for village health & nutrition day (VHND) and to channelize for visit of medical officer to the village once a while. He also informed that IMR & MMR has drastically reduced due to awareness. CMO, also thanked the NHAK for allowing specialist Dr. Azo (gynae & obs) in rendering their service at the health camp. 
Awareness on revised national tuberculosis program (RNTCP) was delivered by Dr. Asünü Sakhrie (DTO) where she emphasized that persons/individuals with related symptoms should undergo sputum test for early detection of TB. She also added the message that ensuring the adherence to full course of treatment with the first line drugs is the key to curing TB and preventing emergence of multi drug resistance TB.
Programme was chaired by Dr. Medotsio Whuorie, medical officer Kohima village PHC. Gifts & nutritional packages were distributed to fully immunized children & pregnant mothers. ASHA was also acknowledged for work rendered for community. 
Lab test for RDT (Malaria) 50, ANC  7, TB cases referred for sputum examination  3, ICTC screening were done to 45 clients and consultation for non communicable diseases (NCD) were carried out for 50 patients. Lab tests were provided with free medicines & distribution of IEC materials. Altogether, 100 inhabitants’ turned up to avail health services at the RCH camp.
