
Dimapur police on Wednesday arrested two individuals in connection with a case of unauthorized display of arms by a married couple, pictures of which went viral on social media.
Informing this in a press note, PRO Dimapur police said a suo moto case was registered at Diphupar PS after which two individuals of the GPRN/NSCN– Ato Sumi (23 yrs) s/o Nevishe, v/o. Zhekishe, PS- Niuland Dimapur and Mughaho (28 yrs) s/o Kikheto, Satakha, Zunheboto were arrested on November 13 for allowing unauthorized display of firearms in contravention to ceasefire ground rules. PRO said that the married couple were also arrested, but later released on police bail bond.
It may be recalled that Nagaland Governor, RN Ravi, after taking serious note of the photos that went viral on social media, directed the state police to register a criminal case and arrest the culprits.
According to TNT report, police seized the arms; however, after a letter from the Cease Fire Monitoring Group the arms were released on Zimma and the two arrested persons were forwarded to the court.
