NSCN (R) lauds ‘political maturity’ of Arunachal CM

November 21, 2019 | by admin

NSCN (R) has appreciated the political maturity shown by Arunachal Pradesh chief-minister Pema Khandu on the Indo-Naga political issue.

In a statement, the organisation said Khandu had not only read the pulse of the Nagas of TCL (Tirap, Changlang and Longding) correctly, but had also understood how emotionally and sentimentally the Nagas were attached.

Pointing out that the Naga issue was a very old issue and deserved a dignified solution, NSCN (R) mentioned that the Nagas of Tirap, Changlang and Longding, along with the Nagas elsewhere, had experienced untold sufferings for the past several decades,. Hundreds and thousands of Naga youth, men and women had laid down their lives to protect the Nagas’ right, identity and dignity, while having been forced to live under Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, it added.

As such, it appealed to all leaders of different political parties in Arunachal Pradesh, civil society groups, student bodies and all citizens concerned to rally behind Khandu for a peaceful solution to the long-pending Indo-Naga issue.

According to the armed group, after several rounds of political negotiation, both Government of India and the Naga people had reached an understanding to resolve the issue amicably in the interest of both entities and that a solution was being worked out.

It told all the tribes and communities of Arunachal Pradesh that whatever be the solution, it would be for the common good of all people and communities and further strengthen the bond and brotherhood of all residents of the State.

The organisation also called on the people not to believe in the rumours being spread in social media and instead keep their eyes and ears open and zealously guard the peace they all enjoyed.
