NCC Day celebrated at Jotsoma

The 71st NCC Day celebration was held at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma organized by NCC Group-Kohima on November 24. 

Speaking at the celebration, Maj Gen P.C. Nair IGAR (North) said NCC provides a platform where unity and discipline was inculcated in the cadets, adding that there were many people in the country who have joined NCC and served the country.

He informed that there were over 30,000 cadets in the North East, of which more than 5000 cadets were from Nagaland.

He also called upon the cadets to stand together and show the strength of their unity. 

“NCC teaches discipline which is a very important aspect and a big virtue”, he said.

The programme witnessed songs and various performances by NCC from Kohima College, Kohima, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Jakhama, Japfü Christian College, Kigwema, and Kohima Science College, Jotsoma. 

Col. Prashant Pachauri, Officer Gp Cdr, NCC Group-Kohima informed that in the run up to 71st NCC celebrations, blood donation was organized by Gp HQ Kohima on November 22. 

He stated that on November 23, a programme, “Run For Health” was organized in Kohima where 210 NCC cadets with four officers and 37 staffs participated which started from Kohima War Cemetery and culminated at local ground. 

Earlier in the programme, Nair also gave away awards for “exemplary” performance to various NCC cadets. It may be mentioned that every year, the last Sunday of November is commemorated as NCC Day.
