Assam Rifles conduct civic action programmes

Dimapur Battalion, Chieswema Battalion conducted civic action programmes at Kashiram Basti Dimapur and Tsiesema Basa village respectively. 

Wokha Battalion: National integration tour for 20 girl students and two teachers from various schools of Kohima, Wokha, Phek and Kiphire district of Nagaland to Chennai, Bangaluru & back was flagged off from Chieswema on January 1. 

According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), event is being conducted by Wokha Battalion as part of the Assam Rifles initiative to encourage learning and generate awareness among the youth by witnessing technology advancements and varied culture and traditions of other parts of the country.  The 17 days tour comprises of visits to various interesting places in Chennai and Bangaluru. Flag off ceremony was attended by the touring children and various ranks of Assam Rifles.     

Zunheboto Battalion: Zunheboto Battalion conducted an interaction with GBs, chairman and village council of Atoizu village on December 30. According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), total of 5 GBs, chairman and village council members attended the interaction and important issues of illegal taxation were discussed. The aim of this interaction was also to strengthen the bond of friendship between Assam Rifles and the civil population. The village council of Atoizu appreciated the efforts made by the Zunheboto Battalion in maintaining peaceful environment. 

Zunheboto battalion, conducted health check up camp at Akuluto, for locals of Akuluto and its surrounding areas of Zunheboto, on January 1. 

According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), the free health check up was organised to provide medical attention to the populace of remote villages and witnessed huge participation by villagers. A total of 67 patients were treated during the medical camp. 

Mokokchung Battalion: Mokokchung Battalion conducted career counseling for the youths of Orangkong village in Longleng on December 30, attended by 100 students. The students were educated about recruitment procedure, opportunities available in Sainik School Punglwa and also induction of Mahila soldiers in Assam Rifles. The students asked number of queries which were adequately responded by the company commander.

Ghaspani Battalion:  Assam Rifles, Ghaspani battalion, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N), carried out coaching of local children for Sainik School Punglwa and conducted medical camp.

According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), an interaction with candidates of Sainik School Punglwa was conducted on December 30 and aspiring candidates were given coaching at Ghaspani with effect from December 1 to December 30. 

The aim of the interaction was to boost up the morale and confidence of candidates who are to appear in all India Sainik School Examination 2020. A total of 9 students and their parents were present during the interaction.

Further, basic medical health check up and distribution of essential medicines was conducted at Piphema Bawe village on December 30, for villagers of Piphema town and surrounding areas. A total of 127 patients were examined by team of doctor and trained para medical staff for various ailments and medicines were also distributed during the camp.
