
Saotola was crowned Miss Chang 2020 during the Poanglüm Mini Hornbill Festival celebrated at Tuensang town on January 13organised by the Changsao Thangjam Setshang (CTS) under the theme “Thesa”. ‘Thesa’ means lively, attractive and good personality. Satola was also the winner of Miss Josephite 2019.
In the final round, Saotola was asked “Woman is the best creation of God. What is your opinion on that?” to which she replied “I believe women are the synonym of sacrifice, love and affection. Women are the companion of men for life created especially by God. Origin of a child is through a mother and a mother is a woman and me as a woman proudly standing here representing my people. So, yes women are the best creation of God.”
Altogether, 10 participants vied for the coveted title where she also won Miss Ethnic and Miss Cat-walk subtitles, the other subtitles like Miss Photogenic was bagged by Toshila, Miss Talented by Esther, Miss Perfect 10 by Hanalemla, and Miss Congeniality by Amenla.
Altogether, three rounds were held for the contestants such as traditional round, designer wear round and ethnic wear round where Miss Chang 2019 winners made a special appearance. The event was hosted by Kaimang Choba and Osachipen.
The winner walks away with a cash prize of Rs. 70, 000 which was sponsored by Sipong Chang of Keshai village and Tuensang District Administration under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme. She will also be entitled the district ambassador of BBBP scheme for a year. The second prize was sponsored by senior treasury officer Tuensang, Imtingangshi and third prize by SAA treasury Tuensang, Lanutoshi.
Several well known artists from the town performed in the programme which also had a round of display by modellers followed.
Days before the main event the contestants took part in a charity event giving out clothes and food to needy people in the town. Talent night for the participants was also held on January 9.
The concept behind the pageant is that one’s inner soul is reflected through ones way of talking, communication, way of movement, way of interaction and etiquettes in everyday life.
Senior Assistant Transport Officer, Civil Secretariat Kohima, Alim Bin Beshang was the special guest of the event. The special guest said that the way they think about their character, how they feel about themselves knowing and accepting who they are despite what people think of them is what makes them beautiful. Appreciating the efforts of CTS and CKS for the arrangements made she also encouraged the participants to take the opportunity to build their character, confidence and be upfront in their career as well.
President CTS, Naong Chemten delivered the keynote address. Earlier, students of Wela Foundation School, Tuensang opened the night with choreography. More than 7000 people from all walks of life came to witness the mega event.
