
New team of Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) held its first executive meeting on February 2 at SKK conference hall, wherein various resolutions were passed.
A press release from ZRSU media cell stated that, the ZRSU resolved to ardently advocate free and compulsory education as enshrined in Right to Education Act 2009, whereby it appealed to every government schools within its jurisdiction to desist from charging admission or other fees, thereby ensuring fundamental right to free education for all children.
Adhering to its unwavering commitment towards ensuring just and quality education, especially for the underprivileged, the union further warned erring government teachers to discontinue the malpractice of keeping ‘proxy teachers’. ZRSU stated that it shall initiate stringent measure and unbiased effort to ascertain that the academic career of students are not jeopardised due to the vested interest of some erring teachers and officials. Union also appealed to the officials of all government departments in Zunheboto district headquarter to remain in their respective posting places in order to deliver proper services to the people without dereliction of duty. It also informed that departments involved in implementation of various governmental schemes should ensure that the genuine beneficiaries were benefitted.
Moreover, in matters relating to developmental works, ZRSU stated that the officials of concerned department shall be held responsible for any incomplete or substandard works undertaken and legal action be initiated against such incumbent.
ZRSU also affirmed that it shall continue to render support to both governmental and non-governmental stakeholders in all endeavours that are committed towards the progress of society.
