Against the backdrop of the protest by students of Wangkhao College Mon (WGC) against shortage of teachers, the chief minister and leader of the house, Neiphiu Rio, Saturday acknowledged that the demand was genuine and assured to address within two weeks time.
Opposition member Y. M Yollow Konyak, who raised issue during the cut motion, called the government arrogant and questioned how many representations had to be submitted to the department to appoint teachers.
Asserting that the college with more than 500 student enrolment deserved to have adequate teachers like other colleges, MLA questioned how the students were expected to prepare for their ensuing exams without teachers.
Asking whether the intention of the government was to suppress the people of Mon district, Yollow demanded that teachers be deputed immediately. Rio gave a patient hearing and assured to deliver justice at the soonest possible time.
