
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren held XVth scientific advisory committee (SAC) meeting on February 17 at KVK conference hall, Porba with deputy commissioner (DC) Phek, Sachin Jaiswal, as special guest.
A press release by KVK Peren stated that the DC Sachin Jaiswal emphasized on coordination of KVK with line departments of agriculture towards achieving a common goal to uplift the agrarian community.
The chairman of SAC, director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema, Dr. Abhijit Mitra, urged the KVK officials to reach out the remote villages to percolate the farmer friendly technologies. He advocated the farmers not to be subsidy oriented, rather to optimize the available resources.
The meeting chaired by Dr. Abhijit Mitra was attended by the district officials, progressive farmers, and representative as from NGOs, Nagaland State Cooperative Bank and NABARD.
Senior scientist & head in-charge, KVK, Phek, Dr T Esther Longkumer, welcomed the members of the SAC and briefed about the KVK mandates and activities.
ACTO-Agronomy, KVK Phek, Dr. Hannah K Asangla, presented the action taken report of XIVth SAC and progress report of preceding year 2019-2020. The annual action plan of KVK Phek for the year 2019-20 was presented by Dr T Esther Longkumer, before the house and necessary suggestions were sought for incorporation in the plan.
An interactive session was held during the meeting which was followed by an exhibition in the KVK premises. Altogether 50 participants attended the meeting. The meeting concluded with words of appreciation by SMS Animal Science, Dr. Debojyoti Borkotoky.
