ICDS Chare block launched Poshan Pakhwada 2020 on March 8 at Chare town, to create momentum towards nutrition at the block level and to celebrate the second anniversary of Poshan Abhiyaan.
A press release from ICDS Chare block stated that, launching the Poshan Pakhwada 2020 at Chare block, Nockpai Konyak, EAC, Chare urged the participants to play an active role for implementing the activities during the Pakhwada which will help sensitize the masses towards adoption of nutritional behaviours.
During the introductory speech, Moa Longkumer, CDPO Chare ICDS block informed that Poshan Pakhwada will be celebrated from March 8 to 22. He also stated that the focus area will be “Men for nutrition – Increasing male engagement in Poshan Abhiyaan to improve nutritional indicators”.
Longkumer also informed about the key activities to include Poshan melas, rally on nutrition, Prabhat Pheree, session on nutrition at schools, self help group meetings, anaemia camps, growth monitoring of children, home visits of newborn babies by ASHA/AWW, village health, sanitation and nutrition.
Poshan pledge was administered to all the participants while other highlights of the programme included invocation by Likhumla, associate pastor women, Chare Town Baptist Church, and vote of thanks by Lemdi Sangtam, assistant block coordinator while Achila, ASHA coordinator, Chare ICDS block chaired the programme.
