Sumi COVID19 Task Force Bengaluru has urged the state government to speed up the process of bringing its people back home as the resources of the church and student leaders taking responsibility of people stranded outside has depleted rapidly.

Meanwhile, in a press release, Sumi Students Union Bangalore (SSUB) president Aloto K Chishi stated that, the body of late Vikani Zhimomi of Juikhu village, Medziphema, Nagaland started its journey from Bangalore on May 17 and the ambulance carrying her mortal remains reached Nagaland gate on May 19 evening. Late Vikani was declared dead due to sepsis with septic shock. The ambulance was accompanied by two Sumis and two drivers.

Sumi COVID19 Task Force, comprising of SSUB and Sumi Fellowship Bangalore (SFB) had taken the entire initiative from claiming the body kept at Victoria Hospital after the COVID19 testing, which was negative, to obtaining the NOC from both the state governments, arranging ambulance service and a short prayer service before the send-off, stated the release.

SSUB further stated that if government does not take steps fast, “we will have to deal with many unexpected cases where the government will be held accountable.”
