Hitting back at the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) for taking potshots at the state chief minister and the state government, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) termed Congress statements as “most unfortunate”.
NDPP through its media and communication committee said Congress party, which has been “outrightly rejected” by the people of the state and had no elected representative in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, should first realise their “failures in addressing the needs of the people when they had been at the helm of affairs in the State.”
NDPP questioned what did the successive Congress governments do when they were in power both in the state and at the centre? “Perhaps the people of the state are facing these difficult times today due to the failure of the then Congress governments in providing and developing the medical and other infrastructures in the state,” NDPP said.
It demanded that NPCC first explain to the people why their governments in the past had decided to neglect the basic needs of the people before attacking the government that was working to provide for the safety and well being of all the citizens. Further, NDPP expressed regret that the sole agenda of “these unfortunate statements” was to target the image of the state government and insult the sacrifices of the people working day and night.
