WSH slams cabinet over JIC probe report

June 20, 2020 | by admin

Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has expressed surprise over what it described as “inability” of the state cabinet to give a decision on judicial inquiry committee (JIC)’s Tuensang fiasco probe report, saying “it shows the weakness and lack of strong leadership decision in all these quagmire.”

WSH questioned what was the use of appointing a JIC, if the state government could not table the contents and necessary action be taken thereafter according to the report? “Is it to save some political figures in the present ministry or some bureaucrats who have strong links with them?” WSH queried. Alleging that setting up JIC was “only a wastage of time, energy and resources and an eye wash to hoodwink the people”, the Hoho, however, said that people were not fools. “With leadership comes responsibility together with power. We cannot disown one or the other as both are indispensable and inseparable,” WSH stated.

Meanwhile, on the issue of delimitation exercise, the WSH extended support to the Chakro Public Organisation (CPO) stand. It asserted that delimitation be implemented without delay. WSH said that the present allotment of seats district wise was gross injustice and unfair to some tribes of Nagaland.

WSH stated that each district should be allotted legislative seats accordingly as per the appropriate population of the district.
