Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Mokokchung expressed dismay at the recent cruel and inhuman killing of pet dogs at Changki village in Mokokchung district on June 30.
A press release from SPCA Mokokchung secretary stated that, office of the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung district had issued an order on May 21 declaring the “shoot-at-sight” order on dogs as a punishable offence under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (PCAA) 1960 and the guidelines of the Animal Welfare Board of India.
While condemning the heartless killing, the SPCA hopes that district administration will take appropriate action against the culprits.
