
Under the initiative of Wokha Humtso Elumyo Senior Youth Welfare Forum (WHESYWF), villagers of Wokha, Humtso and Elumyo carried out major road repair work along the stretch of NH-2 (erstwhile NH-61) on July 25.
In a press release by WHESYWF media in-charge, Yanrenthung J Humtsoe stated that, the work was carried out by the forum of three villages in the presence of DC Wokha Orenthung Lotha, SP Wokha Imtitoshi Meren, chairmen and Gaonburas of the three villages.
DC in a brief address lauded the forum and the volunteers for the good initiative taken and assured all possible help in the days to come. Imtitoshi Meren, lamented on the deteriorating condition of roads at Wokha and appreciated the forum for taking up the challenge towards better roads.
President of WHESYWF, Renchio Murry thanked the district administration, Police and well wishers for their immense contribution. He expressed concern on the pathetic condition of roads at Wokha and commented that it was the fundamental right of every citizen to have good roads. He also encouraged the volunteers to be responsible citizens and urged them to contribute for the welfare of the society.
The forum carried out major filling of potholes from NST to Police Point with boulders and chips. Altogether 97 volunteers’ actively participated and strict COVID-19 norms were followed wherein the forum also provided face mask to all the volunteers.
Earlier, invocation was pronounced by deacon, NST Sector Baptist Church, Wopemo Murry.
