Zeme Youth Organization Nagaland (ZYON) has reacted to the NDPP Peren region and NDPP Tening town unit statement which “insinuated” at the peaceful protest rallies conducted by various student bodies as “politically motivated” and also “asking the JAC not to go beyond boundary.”

A press release by Zeme Youth Organization Nagaland (ZYON) president, R. John Zeliang reminded the NDPP party of Peren that there was “a time and place to put the community first before their political party interest.”

It stated that peaceful protest rallies were conducted under the aegis of the Zeliangrong Students Union Nagaland (ZSUN), Zeme Youth Organisation Nagaland (ZYON) and the Kuki Students Organisation (KSON).

The release stated that, the JAC comprising of CSOs and church organisations have taken strong exception to the baseless accusations of the NDPP party as executives of various churches under Peren district were core members of JAC, whereby it was an affront to the many churches to be accused of being political in their actions.

While stating that JAC is a mass based committee, the release added that “we welcome everyone who can spare their time and energy to help our own people rather than sitting on the other side of the fence and slinging mud for no apparent reasons.”

It further stated that, JAC is genuinely concerned for the welfare of the people “without any ulterior motives or for personal gains”, whereby it reiterated that the “NDPP party as a responsible political party should restrain themselves from making such statements which is aimed at demoralising the leaders who are sincerely working for the people.”
