
DIMAPUR: Symposium for Holistic Health (SHH) ICFAI University Nagaland (IUN) collaborated with Serendip Guardians to raise awareness on mental health through week-long poster campaign culminating on “world mental health day” on the theme “mental health for all- greater investment-greater access” on October 10.
A press release by assistant professor, department of political science & convenor SHH, Holi J. Ayemi stated that resource person, psychiatric social worker, Serendip Guardians, Rugozevou Khate said that mental health should be approached in a holistic way. She cited the example of Nagaland where the church has a major role to play in creating awareness about mental health issues before consulting professionals. She also stressed on the importance of creating awareness among one’s own community. Speaking at the webinar, resource person assistant professor of Psychology, Nagaland University, Lovika P. Shikhu explained about the concept of “greater investment” with regard to mental health. She said that the concept did not mean economic investment but investing love, attention and time on someone. According to Shikhu, “mental health meant a state of wellbeing in which every individual realises his/her potential”.
Earlier, the webinar was moderated by Holi J. Ayemi and was attended by students and faculties of IUN and students of Nagaland University.
