
Dimapur police arrested 13 persons on November 14 for defying the total ban on bursting/sale of firecrackers.
According to police, the defaulters were caught from areas like Marwari Patti, Burma camp, Railway station and other locations in Dimapur.
The defaulters were warned and later released after signing an undertaking, police said.
Till November 15 evening, sounds of firecrackers were heard across Dimapur.
It may be recalled that the state government has prohibited sale and use of fire crackers in all parts of the State from November 10, 2020 till January 31, 2021.
The notification issued by chief secretary J Alam ordered complete ban on sale and use of fire crackers in the state and any person found violating the order would be punished under relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other relevant laws. The chief secretary had also directed Commissioner of Police Dimapur and all district SPs to take necessary action to ensure compliance of the order.
