Tsurangkong Range Naga Youth Front (TRNYF) has served an ultimatum on both the governments of Nagaland and Assam, to intervene and clear the “illegal highway blockade by miscreants” by 6 a.m. of November 20. In a statement, TRNYF interim president Bendangwati and interim secretary Shiluyongdang stated that the economic blockade imposed by some unknown miscreants from Assam has affected the economic lifeline of Nagaland viz. N.H.- 702,(D).
They warned that if the blockade was not cleared, then TRNYF will be compelled to take its own course of action and for which both state governments will be held responsible for any untoward incident. TRNYF further demanded that the two state governments resolve boundary issue at the earliest. It reminded that “Tsurangkong Range under Mokokchung district is our ancestral land and the traditional boundary cannot be altered in any manner.”
However, TRNYF alleged that unknown miscreants, with the tacit support of Assam government, had imposed total blockade, to force Nagaland government to buckle under pressure and part away with the land. TRNYF therefore, reiterated: “we will not agree to any decision which is detrimental to our ancestral rights.” It also reminded all that the prevailing event at Aosenden village should not be construed as a border issue/dispute between the two states, adding the village “has been our land since time immemorial and vehemently condemns the involvement of public in issues concerning state governments.”
