Report on inter-state movement of stranded persons released

Principal secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha released the report on the inter-state movement of stranded persons at secretariat conference hall, Kohima on December 4. 

According to DIPR report, speaking at the programme, Sinha congratulated the working group headed by commissioner & secretary P&AR, Dinesh Kumar, who was also the chief nodal officer for inter-state movement of stranded persons for successfully conducting the exercise assigned to them. He stated that a lot of effort was put in to bring back the stranded persons from outside the state and appreciated the team for documentation of the process. He observed that the state government managed to bring back most of the stranded persons, who wanted to return back to Nagaland.

Giving a brief introduction on the report, commissioner & secretary and chief nodal officer for inter-state movement of stranded persons, Dinesh Kumar said that tremendous effort had gone in facilitation of inter-state movement of persons of Nagaland stranded in other states and persons of other states stranded in Nagaland wishing to return back to their home states.

The documentation is an attempt to place on paper the journey of the working group set up by the government of Nagaland to alleviate issues faced by stranded persons and facilitate their movement back to their homes safely, he added. 

Kumar said that the four additional zones were created to aid in the inter-state movement and further stated that 34 special buses, 12 Shramik special trains covering 1,02,555 kms in 28 days managed to bring back 13,594 returnees to Nagaland. He added that around 14,600 calls were made to stranded persons by the Zonal teams in order to facilitate inter-state movements. He also informed that Nagaland created history by arranging Shramik special trains covering the longest train route in India during that period. 

Chief nodal officer for inter-state movement of stranded persons thanked his team for their support and for making the exercise possible. 

Earlier, the programme was chaired by DC Kohima & zonal nodal officer (South), Mohammed Ali Shihab and vote of thanks by DCF & zonal nodal officer (North), Suman Sivachar. 

The working group, led by Dinesh Kumar and his team also presented a copy of the report on the inter-state movement of stranded persons to the chief secretary, Nagaland, Jan E Alam in his office chamber.
