
Officers’ Hill (Thegakhaba) Youth Organization (OHYO) launched a uniform for its vigilance team at 5 Point Junction here on Friday.
Speaking at the launching programme, Officers’ Hill Colony Council (OHCC) chairman, Khrielakuo Sekhose said that with the induction and launching of the uniform the youths would diligently provide security to the colony like in the olden times where youths were an integral part of the society.
He added that under the guidance of the colony panchayat, installation of the team was done with recommendation of South Police Station Kohima wherein the former would assist the force within the colony. In this, he instructed youths to avoid taking law into their own hands.
He exhorted the team to resolve issues through peaceful means and in coordination with the police.
The newly constituted team would be led by convenor Kezhachülie Ngusanyü and member secretary Kelengol Thore.
OHYO president Kezhalezo Solo said that the team was formed to assist OHYO in providing safety and security to the residents of the colony. While the team would be an independent body, all judicial cases would be jointly taken up along with colony executives, he added.
During the programme, Khrielakuo Sekhose acknowledged the induction of new office bearers of OHYO for the tenure 2020-2023. The new OHYO team would be headed by Kezhalezo Solo as president, Imoliba Jamir as vice-president and Avilie Linyu as general secretary.
