Retain EAC Mopong under ADC Tobu: MHPF reminds govt

January 22, 2021 | by admin

Mopong Hongkong Public Forum (MHPF) Mon has reminded the state government to reinstate EAC Mopong administration centre under Tobu ADC headquarters.

In a reminder addressed to the commissioner Nagaland, the MHPF president A Neangba Konyak and general secretary P Longang Konyak asserted that Mopong Hongkong public had been requesting for retention of EAC Hq, Mopong to ADC Tobu administrative Hq, which was transferred during the retention of Longching EAC Hq in 2014. The signatories reminded that public agitation occurred due to upgradation of Longching EAC Hq administrative centre to SDO (Civil), which was subsequently shifted to Angjangyang village, but had to be transferred to Angjangyang as the village was not feasible to be an administrative centre. However, they said that after a few years, due to public agitation and demand for reversion, the Longching EAC Hg, had been reinstated.
During 1996 and 2004, the signatories said Mopong Hongkong public submitted the memorandum for the “up-gradation” of Mopong EAC Hq to SDO (Civil) Hq with verification report of the deputy commissioner (DC) Mon.
However, when the Longching EAC Hq was relinquished, they said Mopong EAC Hq circle villages were transferred under Angjangyang SDO (Civil) Hq administration without the knowledge of the MLAs of 55 Tabu and 48 Moka assembly constituencies and without consulting the Mopong circle public.
Due to which, the forum said the Mopong Hongkong public and leaders of NGOs have been demanding retention of the same.
MHPF has, therefore, appealed to high powered committee members for “Retention of EAC Hq Mopong” to address the demand in the interest of the Mopong Hongkong public and convenience of administration.
