
A two-day workshop on weaving, bamboo craft, pottery & beadwork under the theme. “Indigenous livelihood skills for economic and environmental sustainability” started on January 27 and culminated on January 28 at Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE).
According to DIPR report, the workshop is being sponsored by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Youth Development, (Programme for Development of North-East Youth through Higher Education Institutions) Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, India.
Director RGNIYD, Prof. Sibnath Deb as the chief guest in his speech (Via Google meet) thanked the MCTE for organizing such programme, needed to protect and preserve indigenous culture.
He said that such workshop would help motivate the younger generation in preserving one’s culture.
To promote indigenous livelihood skills, he said that one needed professionalism, proper management and identifying the right output and said when it came to culture, tradition and various indigenous approaches, people from the mainland have a lot to learn from the north-east people.
Dimapur Govt. College, retired principal Akok Walling as the main speaker spoke on the theme, while MCTE principal, T. Alemla Longkumer delivered the welcome address.
