
Directorate of School Education (DoSE) has proposed to the State government to allow resuming normal classes for students of classes 1 to 5 from March 15.
In a letter to the principal secretary School Education, principal director DoSE, Shanavas C said that schools throughout the state have been functioning smoothly since February 8, strictly following the SOPs issued by the government. There have been no adverse reports from any school, parents, teachers, public till date regarding the functioning of schools after resuming normal classes, he said. Shanavas further said that the rate of spread of Covid-19 in the State was also negligibly low in the past two months.
Taking note of all this, he said the DoSE has proposed resuming normal classes for students of classes 1 to 5 with effect from March 15, 2021 strictly following the SOPs notified by the state government.
Nearly a year after schools shut down statewide because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the state government in January this year decided to reopen schools from February 8 for classes 6 to 12. The School Education department directed both government and private schools to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the government to ensure the safety of teachers, students and employees.
