Zeliangrong Civil Organizations (ZCOs) have sought immediate intervention of the Government of India for impartial, speedy and effective investigation for delivery of justice by directing the National Investigating Agency (NIA) to probe the killing of three persons on March 22 .
This was among several resolutions adopted at the emergency meeting held on March 30 at Peren district, convened by Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) where Zeliangrong leaders representing various Zeliangrong civil societies and organizations from Zeliangrong territories of three States deliberated on the incident at the meeting , the ZCOs media and publicity cell stated in a press note.
While condemning the killing of three Zeliangrongs, ZCOs said they took serious note of the lack of will on the part of the Government of India and Nagaland government in arresting those involved even after the lapse of more than ten days.
ZCOs also alleged that it was a sign of both the Centre and state governments’ “inability… insensitivity, insincerity and lack of commitment into the matter.” ZCOs said that the Zeliangrong people, living in the three States, were observing the manner in which the governments were dealing with the incident.
TYOD: Tenyimi Youth Organization Dimapur (TYOD) at its executive meeting, unanimously resolved to support the 10-day ultimatum served on the state government by the Zeliang Baudi Nagaland and Nagaland Zeliang People Organization on March 31.
TYOD president Thejangulie Angami and secretary Khrozote Kapfo said that the house deliberated on the March 22 incident and urged the state government to act swift without further delay, adding that “further delay and negligence on the part of the government will only escalate tension among the people and may result to untoward incident anytime.”
TYOD further reminded the government that “criminal cases should not be misconstrued or mixed up with boundary dispute” and that all perpetrators should be brought to booked under relevant section of law without any further delay.
It further said that “in the event of the shortfall from state government, TYOD shall stand with ZBN and NZPO till justice is delivered.”
