DyCM, CSC members visit Lamhainamdi area

Deputy chief minister Yanthungo Patton visited Lamhainamdi area on Thursday to take stock of the ground situation in the Dimapur-Peren border area, a DIPR report stated.

Accompanied by ministers– Neiba Kronu, Paiwang Konyak, Pangnyu Phom and Kashiho Sangtam, who are all members of the Cabinet Sub-Committee (CSC) constituted earlier for boundary demarcation between Dimapur and Peren districts, Patton, who is also minister in-charge of Home, visited the place of occurrence of the unfortunate killing of three persons on March 22 and also the burial site of the deceased.

Later, during a brief meeting held at 9th IR Battalion Hqs, Saijang, Patton appealed for maintaining peace and tranquillity by taking care of law and order situation, especially in the disputed areas, so as to avert any untoward incident. 

He further called for strictly adhering to the guidelines issued by the government for maintaining the status quo. Patton asserted that the State government was serious about the disputed area that led to loss of lives for which, he said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted on March 23, resulting in the arrest of four persons.

With investigation was going on in full swing, Patton assured that those found guilty would be punished as per law after the submission of report by SIT.

Several senior government officials including police officials accompanied the visiting team.
